Social and economic situation of the Municipal Formation

The Municipal Formation Abinsk District is located on the Kuban-Priazov Lowland in the southern foothill zone of the Krasnodar Region.

The total area of the district is 1,624.1 sq. km.

The population of the Abinsk District as of January 1, 2021, amounted to 98.83 thousand people.

The basis for the formation of the Cossack villages, which later became part of the Abinsk District, was the «Regulation on the Settlement of the Foothill Part of the Caucasus Mountain Range by Kuban Cossacks and Other Settlers from Russia» dated May 10, 1862.

The implementation of major investment projects for the construction of a metallurgical facility in the Abinsk District completely changed the direction of the district's economy.

The appearance of Abinsk Electrometallurgical Plant LLC constructed in 2010 gave a powerful impetus to the development of the district, and it significantly influenced the social and economic system of the Municipal Formation ensuring consistently high values of key indicators.

The Abinsk District ranks 1st in the Krasnodar Region in terms of industrial production.

According to statistics for 2020, large and medium-sized enterprises and organizations of the Abinsk District provided the volume of shipped products of their own production of works (services) performed in the amount of 66.5 billion rubles (the growth rate amounted to 120.4%).

Following the results of 2020, positive growth rates (in current prices) were noted in 7 out of 9 sectors of the economy. Their share in the volume of shipped products and works (services) performed amounted to 98%.

Industry

48 industrial enterprises operate in the territory of the Abinsk District, of which 6 enterprises are classified as large and medium-sized.

The largest enterprises in the industry are as follows: Abinsk Electrometallurgical Plant LLC, Southern Rice Company LLC, Akhtyrskiy Bakery Plant OJSC, Abinskiy Butter Plant LLC, Pishchevik LLC, and Kubanneftemash Research and Production Company LLC.

Following the results of work for 2020, large and medium-sized enterprises of the industrial complex shipped products of their own production and provided industrial services for 62,809.4 million rubles including by sector:

  • manufacturing enterprises – 60,457.9 million rubles,
  • mining – 1,788.8 million rubles,
  • providing with electricity, gas and steam, and air conditioning – 387.7 million rubles,
  • water supply, sewerage, organization of collection and disposal of waste, activities for the elimination of pollution – 174.9 million rubles.

The basic sector of the economy of the Abinsk District is metallurgical production, the share of which in the total volume in the Krasnodar Region is 70%.

Agriculture

Agriculture remains one of the development priorities in the Abinsk District. More than 38 thousand people live in rural settlements, of which more than 65% work on the land.

36 agricultural enterprises, about 100 peasant farm enterprises, more than 24 thousand private farms, and 3 agricultural cooperatives operate in the district.

The largest enterprises in agriculture are as follows: Svetlogorskoye Collective Farm Enterprise LLC, Agro-Alyans LLC, Yuzhnyye Zemli LLC, Alma Production LLC, and Niris Agricultural Processing Enterprise LLC.

The volume of agricultural products for 2020 in agriculture as a whole amounted to more than 7.4 billion rubles; the growth rate amounted to 122.4%.

In 2020, despite the frosts, the gardeners of the Abinsk District a decent harvest of fruit was gathered – 46.7 thousand tons of fruit; this is the second result in Kuban.

Resort and tourist complex

16 hotels and guest houses and 10 recreation centers, which are collective accommodation facilities, operate in the territory of the Abinsk District. The number of accommodation facilities is 280 rooms and 629 beds.

The volume of services of the resort and tourist complex amounted to 27.7 million rubles in 2020.

All-the-year-round activity is carried out by Khutor Pokrovskiy, a suburban tourist facility, and Svetlyachok, a sports and tourist complex.

The number of tourists in 2020 amounted to 37.1 thousand people.

Transportation

The transportation sector of the Abinsk District is represented by 409 business entities, one of which is classified as "medium".

The largest enterprise in the transportation sector is Southen Industrial Company LLC, representatives of small businesses, such as Trans Leasing LLC, Trans Service LLC, Abinskpassazhiravtotrans LLC, etc.

The volume of services provided by large and medium-sized enterprises of the transportation sector for 2020 amounted to 747.3 million rubles.

The consumer market

The trade sphere in the Abinsk District is represented by 1,146 objects of stationary retail trade, 68 wholesale trade enterprises, and 103 catering establishments.

The total trading area of retail trade enterprises is 88.65 thousand sq.m.; the supply of retail spaces is 895 sq.m per 1,000 inhabitants.

There are such large retail chains as Magnit, Pyatyorochka, Svyaznoy, Detskiy Mir, Kari, etc. in the district.

The retail trade turnover for large and medium-sized enterprises in 2020 increased by 12.4% and amounted to 5.5 billion rubles.

To meet consumer demand and provide the population with the products of regional manufacturers, 16 fairs were established in the territory of the Municipal Formation Abinsk District with the number of trading places of 1,588, including 7 in the "farmer's yard" format.

The wholesale trade turnover in 2020 increased by 1.6 times and amounted to 32.4 billion rubles. A major representative of wholesale trade is Snabservis LLC; the company sells metal products of the Abinsk Electrometallurgical Plant.
